March Chamber Spotlight: FM BANK

The Chamber is excited to Spotlight FM BANK!

FM BANK is a family-owned business, originally chartered in Clarkfield, MN as F&M Bank of Minnesota. It expanded into the Olivia and Renville area in 2012 with the acquisition of those locations from American Bank of St. Paul and further expanded with the acquisition of Citizen's State Bank in 2014. In 2021, the brand name was updated to FM BANK and includes locations in Olivia, Granite Falls, Clarkfield, Fergus Falls, Wheaton and soon in Waseca.

Something unique about FM BANK: Most banks their size have multiple owners while FM BANK is basically owned by one person (and his wife) who are actively involved in running the business. They place a strong emphasis on community involvement and local autonomy. Recognizing each community they serve is unique is why each location can operate as stand-alone bank and includes a local President. It's a subtlety that can make a big difference in the community and the long term success of the bank.

The team in Olivia is fairly young as many long-term employees retired the past few years. A very selective hiring process has led to an amazing team with great energy including: Ana Dawn (Universal Banker), Olivia Tersteeg (Credit Analyst), Michelle Hanson (Mortgage Lender), Jena Bruns (Retail Supervisor), Erik Peterson (President), Matt Aarons (AVP), Ashley Knight (Bookkeeping) and Diane Otteson (Loan Admin).

FM BANK is currently looking for another person with great customer service skills to join their team as a Universal Banker which is basically a combination of personal banker, teller and administrator. In other words, a customer service role that takes care of many requests a customer could have.

The Chamber is proud to have Jena Bruns on our Board as the Vice President. FM BANK is a large supporter of the Chamber in all we do; they are a great partner and huge supporter of our community. The Chamber is looking forward to some fun Chamber-After-Hours for members on the 31st of March and another coming up in April! We are also looking forward to the Career Fair at BOLD in May. We are excited that more people are joining the Chamber in 2023! If you would like information on how your business can become a partner with the Chamber, please reach out to Ally Johnson at the Chamber of Commerce, 320-523-1350.
